Day in the field.

Today we planted close to 50 red papayas. Did you know fermented papaya is a well studied nutritional super food and body regenerator? I made it last week, fermented papaya, and it was so good. A basic lacto-ferment similar to a good kraut but with a rich, silkiness to it that is not present in cabbage. It is absolutely great.


Papaya can also go from seed to fruiting in 9 months. We collected the seeds and germinated all of the papayas we are planting today. Locally, the red variety is sold at market for double the typical orange colored variety. I think we planted 5 or so orange colored fruiting plants today as well today.

A literature search was conducted in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases. Both in vitro and in vivo studies were included. According to the retrieved studies, fermented papaya has proven to be an excellent antioxidant and an excellent nutraceutical adjuvant in combined therapies against several diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, allergic reactions, anticancer activity, and anemias. Therefore, it is concluded that fermented papaya has many benefits for human health and can be used as prevention or aid in the treatment of various diseases.
